Bill McFarlin

Bill, 60
Building Maintenance

Bill attended Winnsboro High School in Winnsboro, Texas and now works as a self-employed pressure washer, a trade he has been doing for 15 years on 18 acres of land in a small town in East Texas. Bill has an 18 acre farm in East Texas that he lets Star run, play and hunt with no rules.

Bill admits that he and Star like to give seminars to bring smiles to faces with Star’s many tricks. He describes himself as someone who wants to have fun, work hard and enjoy life. He claims to have a lot of energy and is very competitive, although he is usually able to go with the flow…Bill has a wicked sense of humor. His motto is “Work hard and play hard – but have fun!”

Bill currently lives in Flint, Texas, with his wife of 37 years, Sherrie. They have three grown children, Brent, Staci and Bryan. They also have two additional dogs, Lucille, an agility champion, and Maggie, who is teaching Bill sheep herding. His birth date is September 1, 1947.

STAR

Star (her full name is Flying Orange Star), has been trained in field trials, obedience and agility. Star has had some training in tracking, as well. Star performs with Bill at churches, civil groups, local summer reading programs at libraries, retirement homes and local fairs. In 2003, Star was part of the three dog team that competed in agility events at the USDAA Nationals. Bill’s wife, Sherrie, is a diabetic and Star has the ability to sense and alert her when her blood sugar goes low. Star will cling to and sit beside Sherrie until the sugar level has become a normal count. Although she’s not high-maintenance, Star enjoys the trip to the groomer every few months. Star enjoys performing her tricks and bringing smiles to people’s faces.
