Marci Kladnik

Marci Kladnik, Catalyst for Cats board member extraordinaire, has been accepted into the Cat Writers’ Association. CWA is an organization of professionals writing, publishing, and broadcasting about cats. Members include writers, editors, publishers, artists, public relations specialists, broadcasters and others.

Marci’s membership of Professional Status is a step up from the Associate level for which she applied. Nancy Peterson, Cat Program Manager with Companion Animals of the Humane Society of the United States in Washington, D.C., was Marci’s sponsor into the writing group.

Known in the Santa Barbara County area for her regular cat related column in the Santa Ynez Valley News, Marci also spends countless hours each week furthering the Catalyst for Cats mission of addressing the feline overpopulation problem and preventing cruelty to animals by stopping the birth of unwanted and uncared for kittens.
Marci was born and raised in Santa Barbara and is a retired graphic designer and technical writer. She lives in Los Alamos with five cats (all rescued) and one Scottie, a kitten "whisperer". She has two grown daughters.

    How You Can Help

You can become a catalyst for change in the lives of feral cats by helping in the following ways:

    1. Spay or neuter your household pet and encourage others to do the same. Our feral cat epidemic is largely the result of unaltered, lost or abandoned cats. We can refer you to low-cost spay/neuter programs.
    2. Report local breeding cat colonies to us and spread the word about our work.
    3. Adopt a rescued cat or kitten.
    4. Become a volunteer. We need fosters to bottle feed and tame kittens, food care persons, neighborhood caretakers, trappers, transporters, and helpers for fundraising.
    5. Make a tax-deductible donation to Catalyst for Cats, Inc. All contributions go directly towards preventing cruelty to animals by addressing the feline over-population problem.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining our ranks of volunteers, please contact us. We will welcome you to our dedicated circle of caring individuals.
