Dr. Ronald Lyman


Dr. Ronald Lyman is the founder and president of the Animal Emergency and Referral Center (AERC) in Florida, where he also practices internal medicine and neurology / neurosurgery.

A graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he completed an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. He completed residencies in both Internal Medicine and Neurology / Neurosurgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, the Ohio State University, and the University of Florida, where he participated in the instruction of veterinary students.

Dr. Lyman is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He leads daily hospital rounds at AERC, where all hospitalized patients are examined, their cases discussed, and treatment planned by multiple veterinarian specialists and the hospital technical staff.
He coordinates the ACVIM research abstracts review articles for DVM Magazine. Dr. Lyman is the author or co-author of several recent book chapters and scientific journal articles on subjects in clinical veterinary medicine, including two articles in 2006 describing intraoperative ultrasonograpic techniques and their contributions toward decision making during spinal surgery.

Dr. Lyman is a regular speaker and presenter at the ACVIM Forum, the yearly scientific meeting for international specialists in veterinary internal medicine and neurology. He presented the keynote address at the 2007 Alumni Continuing Education Conference at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He was the recipient of the 2007 Alumni Recognition Award by the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
