Sam Ratcliffe-D'Arrigo on Pet Life Radio

Today's show is dedicated to Blue. My guest Bonnie Harlan is the Founder of Prevent Pet Suffocation, which is dedicated to spreading public awareness on the suffocation dangers pets face. The Prevent Pet Suffocation organization has grown to an international following of over 13,000 supporters and after this show we expect that number to increase. Bonnie typically hears from 3 to 4 devastated dog owners a week who have lost their pet to suffocation and had never heard of it before.

BIO:

Bonnie Harlan is the Founder of Prevent Pet Suffocation which is dedicated to spreading public awareness on the suffocation dangers pets face from chip bags and other food packaging. She created Prevent Pet Suffocation shortly after her four year old rescue dog, Blue, suffocated in a Frito Lay Cheetos chip bag on December 15, 2011. It never occurred to her that her beloved dog could lose his life in a seemingly innocuous 9 ounce chip bag. Devastated and shocked by this, Bonnie founded Prevent Pet Suffocation to educate the public on the suffocation hazards of chip bags and other similar food packaging. Since 2012, Prevent Pet Suffocation has grown to an international following of over 13,000 supporters. In addition to the website she launched, Prevent Pet Suffocation can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. She has written numerous articles on the subject and appeared in several television and radio interviews. She is available for speaking engagements, interviews, and writing articles for magazines, newspapers, and online publications. Bonnie typically hears from 3 to 4 devastated dog owners a week who have lost their pet to suffocation and had never heard of it before.

Bonnie has a Master of Liberal Arts from Houston Baptist University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona. She resides in Texas with her husband and enjoys frequent visits from her granddogs, Jag and Tucker.
