Deborah asks Dr. Jory Bocknek ‘What do you wish owners knew’ and he explained What you can do to make your cat so much more chill about going to the Vet, and how to get your dog used to the Vet as well plus a list of other things he wishes owners would know. They talked about cold weather tips and hiking for different kinds of dogs, bloat, and year round parasite prevention with winter temps warming a few days a month everywhere and people venturing where animals live. 

Next, a discussion of Servals (African Wild cats with leopard markings)  and primates as pets. “ When is a big dog afraid of a cat? When the cat is a Serval! “ reports Deborah.   What you need to know about dog foods and marketing and the recommended amounts and how to tell if your dog or cat is too fat.   Want to impress your dog? Grab some tennis balls and juggle….even if you are awful at it, your dog will be mesmerized and fetch the balls you drop.


BIO:


Dr. Bocknek studied Marine Biology in Santa Cruz California for 3 years before coming to Guelph where he graduated from the Veterinary College in 1993.

Dr. Bocknek has spent the last 23 years practicing small animal medicine, with a special focus in ophthalmology, ultrasound, dermatology and animal behavior. He also enjoys teaching children of all ages about animal care and veterinary medicine.  He is available for class or group talks as well as career day lectures. As a child growing up with dyslexia and dysgraphia, Dr. Bocknek has a unique insight into the challenges faced by kids with special needs.

When he is not in the clinic you can find him snowboarding with the kids, torturing the family with his saxophone or running with his wife Amber.
