"Best Worst Dog" with Dale Ward, Professional Dog Trainer and Author

Isabel Alvarez Arata on Pet Life Radio

Dale Ward wrote the book on raising the WORST.DOG.EVER but how bad was bad? Isabel asks her just that in Episode 2 of Covered in Pet Hair's second season. While sipping a cocktail that was much too strong (thanks to Isabel's "husbandger" who misread the pours,) Isabel asks Dale, professional dog trainer and author, about the dog that inspired her book Raising the Worst Dog Ever: A Survival Guide.

Wylie, named after Wile E. Coyote, was a black lab bred for field work and, boy, did she love a challenge. Dale and her husband adopted Wylie as a puppy and, before long, learned that they had a wild one on their hands, one that needed dog training and would inspire Dale to become a dog trainer herself.

In this episode, Isabel and Dale discuss why dogs are "bad dogs" and how positive-based training helped Dale turn her relationship with Wylie around, and inspired her to work with dogs full-time to do the same for other families.
