Keep the Tail Wagging with Kimberly Gauthier

Isabel Alvarez Arata on Pet Life Radio

It was such a joy to have the opportunity to chat with Kimberly Gauthier, the creator behind the Keep the Tail Wagging blog, which is about to celebrate its 10th year anniversary. Kimberly has done years of research on feeding dogs raw dog food and how to keep things simple. She recognizes that life is generally 'too expensive, too complicated, and too time-consuming' as it is, she therefore doesn't think raw dog food should be as well. In this episode, I ask Kimberly to rebut the reasons dog parents usually give when they explain why raw feeding is not for them. In an honest and straightforward way, Kimberly agrees with some of these reasons but gives excellent tips on ways around them. I also ask Kimberly to list the many ways in which pet parents can quickly improve their dogs' lives with minimal effort. She goes over the one minute I allotted in our second game, "Keep the Tail Wagging," but only because she was on a roll and I couldn't bring myself to interrupt her awesome suggestions.

What was originally a pet parent blog, Keep the Tail Wagging has grown from a hobby into a woman/minority-owned small business led by Kimberly Gauthier. Kimberly's goal is to raise awareness of natural alternative canine care for curious pet parents looking to be well informed by sharing her experience raising five dogs. On her blog, pet parents can find personal articles, books on raw feeding, videos, local and online events, recipes for dog food, and more. Kimberly is on a mission to inspire pet parents to think outside the bag and question the status quo by providing a non-judgmental space where it’s safe to ask “stupid” questions, encouraging her followers to join her journey and learn along side her.
