Dog Training Deep Dive

Isabel Alvarez Arata on Pet Life Radio

Erin Moore was a successful dog trainer that had it all on paper but was burnt out and grumpy all the time. She needed help with her business and, by finding help from a business coach, became a business consultant and coach herself.

In this episode, Isabel and Erin take a deep dive into dog training as a career. They discuss why all dog parents need a dog trainer but not all dog trainers need to work with every dog parent. They talk about dog training certifications and whether or not they are truly necessary. Isabel and Erin consider the importance of values and finding the right client/trainer dynamic. Erin is a no-nonsense pet pro with lots of excellent advice to give. If you're in any kind of dog business, she's a go-to mentor.

BIO:

I was a dog trainer for 13 years. I made every business mistake you can make. I had a big facility, classes running 6 days a week, loads of private clients and a waitlist a mile long, “good” revenue coming in the doors and a 5 star rating on google…. And a bad case of burnout.

I missed my friends, my family and my dogs because I was too busy working in my business to build a business. I worked with anyone and everyone and I was miserable (because not all humans are good humans!) I wasn’t making enough for the time I was spending and I needed a vacation in the worst way. I was tapped out and feeling trapped.

Fast forward to today, I help dog trainers dealing with similar experiences build scalable and sustainable businesses in which they can thrive.
