Dr. Stephen Birchard is a board-certified specialist in veterinary surgery and former professor of veterinary medicine at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has published extensively in the clinical veterinary literature and is the chief editor or co-editor of several veterinary textbooks, including The Saunders Manual of Small Animal Practice (co-editor Robert Sherding). Dr. Birchard does online continuing education through his blog (Veterinary Key Points) and his educational Facebook page (Dr. Stephen Birchard, Veterinary Continuing Education). His lives in Indianapolis with his wife, son, and a menagerie of rescued pets including Calvin, a very talkative Labrador mix, Sofie, a highly food motivated beagle, and Creamsicle the cat who excels at annoying the canines.
