By Mark Winter | Pet Life Radio

Valerie Bertinelli joins Michelle Fern on Pet Life Radio’s Cattitude podcast to talk about her beloved cats and her new memoir Getting Naked.
Emmy-winning actress and bestselling author Valerie Bertinelli recently joined host Michelle Fern on Pet Life Radio’s Cattitude podcast to celebrate the show’s milestone 300th episode, sharing funny and heartfelt stories about life with her beloved cats.
Best known for her roles on the classic sitcom One Day at a Time and the hit comedy Hot in Cleveland, Bertinelli has spent decades in the public eye. But during her appearance on Cattitude, she revealed another side of her life — that of a devoted cat mom.
Bertinelli currently shares her home with several feline companions, including Batman, Henry, and Tigger, along with Bubba and Beau, cats she originally fostered for her parents and now cares for when her son and daughter-in-law are traveling. She described the joys — and occasional chaos — of living with multiple cats, joking about everything from knocked-over flower vases to litter box politics in a multi-cat household.
“There’s nothing better than a house full of fur babies,” Bertinelli said during the conversation. “I’ve never not had a cat in my life.”
The interview also explored the deep emotional bond many people share with their pets. Bertinelli spoke about the unconditional love animals provide and how earning a cat’s trust can be especially meaningful.
“There’s something about when a cat chooses you and trusts you,” she said. “That’s the greatest gift.”
In addition to discussing her cats, Bertinelli talked about her latest memoir, Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect, which explores themes of vulnerability, self-acceptance, and personal growth. She also shared details about her new lifestyle platform Valerie’s Place, where she plans to connect with fans through cooking, books, conversations, and community events.
Throughout the interview, Bertinelli emphasized the importance of kindness, compassion, and building community — values she believes are reflected in the way people care for animals.
For Fern, the episode was a fitting way to celebrate a major milestone for the podcast.
“It was such a joy to talk with Valerie,” said Fern. “She’s warm, funny, and exactly the kind of passionate animal lover our listeners relate to.”
Cattitude, part of the Pet Life Radio network, focuses on feline health, behavior, rescue, and the special bond between cats and their humans.
