Justin Melnick is the actor who plays Navy Seal Special Warfare Operator, Brock Reyolds, on CBS’s hit series Seal Team, and his character is the military dog handler on that series. But there is much more to this story. Justin is the military dog’s real life owner! And he’s a real-life Police Officer and a former war photographer in Afghanistan. His dog, Dita, is also much more than a dog actor. She is a trained police dog working as a narcotics detection dog before becoming one of Seal Team’s most rooted for stars.
Justin was initially hired on the series as a stunt man and military consultant to make sure everything was presented realistically. He was asked to play Dita’s handler on the series, and the rest is history!
Justin and Dita are also ambassadors for police and working dogs. They visit schools regularly so kids can get an up-close look and appreciation for a real police dog and for the work police do in their communities.
