SmartSlydr - Automate Any Sliding Door or Window for your Pets!

This week Michelle Fern talks to Shruti Ladani, co-founder and creator of SmartSlydr.  SmartSlydr is a motorized robotic device for existing sliding doors and windows to make them smart in minutes!  Your dog or cat can open the sliding glass door to go outside using The PetPass tag, which is a small tag that attaches to your dog’s collar. When your dog approaches the SmartSlydr, the tag will be detected and the door will open. You can also use the mobile app to control the door remotely.

00:01:52.856 --> 00:01:54.076
<Michelle Fern> Welcome back, everyone.

00:01:54.376 --> 00:01:58.076
<Michelle Fern> I would like to welcome Shruti Ladani.

00:01:58.676 --> 00:02:02.956
<Michelle Fern> And Shruti, you can pronounce your name again, so it's better than what I did.

00:02:02.976 --> 00:02:04.696
<Michelle Fern> If I messed it up, I do apologize.

00:02:04.996 --> 00:02:07.876
<Michelle Fern> She is the co-founder of SmartSlydr.

00:02:07.936 --> 00:02:09.256
<Shruti Ladani> Welcome... Shruti.

00:02:10.936 --> 00:02:12.296
<Michelle Fern> I'm so happy to have you.

00:02:12.716 --> 00:02:20.676
<Michelle Fern> So, SmartSlydr is, it's incredible, but what made you think of inventing it?

00:02:21.056 --> 00:02:24.356
<Michelle Fern> Why did you decide to invent SmartSlydr?

00:02:24.936 --> 00:02:29.176
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, the SmartSlydr idea came from our personal experience.

00:02:29.756 --> 00:02:39.416
<Shruti Ladani> When we moved to our multi-story home years ago, at that time, we were upgrading our home with all the smart technologies like lights, blinds, speakers and stuff like that.

00:02:39.696 --> 00:02:45.236
<Shruti Ladani> At that time, we realized the need for something to automatically control doors and windows.

00:02:46.036 --> 00:02:53.916
<Shruti Ladani> And that became a necessity one time when we went on the trip and we forgot to close our top floor window.

00:02:54.316 --> 00:02:55.736
<Shruti Ladani> And it was a rainy day.

00:02:56.056 --> 00:03:00.596
<Shruti Ladani> So we were worried about all the repair and potential damage out of that.

00:03:01.236 --> 00:03:08.056
<Shruti Ladani> So long story short, we started looking for the device that we could control doors and windows.

00:03:08.356 --> 00:03:12.356
<Shruti Ladani> We couldn't find anything, even though this technology is not new.

00:03:12.996 --> 00:03:19.016
<Shruti Ladani> In cars, we have power windows since years, but there is nothing for the residential homes and windows.

00:03:19.116 --> 00:03:22.796
<Shruti Ladani> So that made us, leads us to create the SmartSlydr.

00:03:22.816 --> 00:03:31.736
<Shruti Ladani> So SmartSlydr is the product that goes onto the existing sliding doors and windows, and you can automatically open and close.

00:03:31.796 --> 00:03:37.876
<Shruti Ladani> You can basically control with mobile app, voice assistant speakers, or even with the remote control.

00:03:38.296 --> 00:03:43.036
<Shruti Ladani> There are many other ways to open and close, including smart watch and smart sensor.

00:03:43.416 --> 00:03:48.776
<Shruti Ladani> But out of all, most favorite for our customers are the PetPass.

00:03:49.096 --> 00:03:53.636
<Shruti Ladani> So with PetPass, SmartSlydr can work as the smart pet door.

00:03:54.176 --> 00:03:56.496
<Michelle Fern> Okay, Shruti, we'll get to PetPass.

00:03:56.956 --> 00:04:02.956
<Michelle Fern> So you created SmartSlydr based on just a need.

00:04:03.176 --> 00:04:14.156
<Michelle Fern> There was nothing out there, and you had a situation where a window was open, what I think you said, and it was raining and, you know, no way to remotely close the window.

00:04:14.176 --> 00:04:20.256
<Michelle Fern> I read some amazing reviews on your site with people that have pets.

00:04:20.596 --> 00:04:48.496
<Michelle Fern> One thing, you know, one thing I have to say, and we'll start talking about PetPass in a moment, but with pets, I live in a place that's warm and I have sliders, and we had to kind of like make a special door for the cats, but it's not the best thing because it lets in bugs, it doesn't close, and if it's open and not closed, the air conditioner goes out.

00:04:48.576 --> 00:04:54.836
<Michelle Fern> And yes, everyone who's been listening for a while, I'm in South Florida, so even in December, we have air conditioning.

00:04:55.476 --> 00:04:56.796
<Michelle Fern> You know, it gets hot in the house.

00:04:57.156 --> 00:05:00.236
<Michelle Fern> But then if it's closed, cats can't come back in.

00:05:00.736 --> 00:05:02.536
<Michelle Fern> So it's a challenge.

00:05:03.016 --> 00:05:11.936
<Michelle Fern> How does SmartSlydr work with the PetPass and I know now you also, besides the PetPass, you have a special collar strap.

00:05:12.396 --> 00:05:14.336
<Michelle Fern> So how would this work for your dogs?

00:05:14.776 --> 00:05:20.776
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, so with SmartSlydr with PetPass, just think PetPass is the pet tag.

00:05:21.036 --> 00:05:25.516
<Shruti Ladani> It's like it has the wireless key that you attach to your dog's collar.

00:05:25.736 --> 00:05:37.856
<Shruti Ladani> So when your dog wants to go out, when your dog waits near to the door, SmartSlydr senses the PetPass and it will authorize the opening just enough for your dog.

00:05:38.076 --> 00:05:42.076
<Shruti Ladani> So you can set the opening with for your dog from the mobile app.

00:05:42.496 --> 00:05:51.416
<Shruti Ladani> Once your dog passes by, SmartSlydr automatically closes by itself, and you can also configure the time when you want to close SmartSlydr.

00:05:51.596 --> 00:05:55.296
<Shruti Ladani> So when your dog wants to come back in, he does the same thing.

00:05:55.856 --> 00:06:04.176
<Shruti Ladani> With SmartSlydr, your dog only needs to do stand next to the door, and SmartSlydr does the rest of the thing.

00:06:04.436 --> 00:06:12.976
<Shruti Ladani> And every time when dog operates the door, owner will get notification on their mobile app, so it will give them peace of mind.

00:06:13.236 --> 00:06:16.356
<Shruti Ladani> And if you are still worried, there is a sign request mode.

00:06:16.716 --> 00:06:37.036
<Shruti Ladani> So how sign request mode works is, when your dog waits near the door, instead of automatically authorize the opening, it will send notification on owner's phone, saying like dog is waiting at the door, and then owner can look at the surrounding from their camera and decide whether to open or not.

00:06:37.136 --> 00:06:47.296
<Shruti Ladani> So basically SmartSlydr with PetPass, it's more secure solution rather than the flat doors where any wild animal can gain access inside the home.

00:06:47.796 --> 00:06:54.356
<Shruti Ladani> SmartSlydr only opens the door while it detects the pet, your dog with the PetPass.

00:06:54.616 --> 00:07:00.716
<Shruti Ladani> So it's more convenient, secure, it gives freedom to your dog and peace of mind to the owners.

00:07:01.016 --> 00:07:02.516
<Michelle Fern> Thank you for explaining that.

00:07:03.156 --> 00:07:09.456
<Michelle Fern> And I was reading a review, so I kind of know the answer to this, but what about safety?

00:07:09.776 --> 00:07:11.536
<Michelle Fern> So what if you have a slow dog?

00:07:11.576 --> 00:07:16.116
<Michelle Fern> Is there a chance that the dog's tail could get caught or anything like that?

00:07:16.356 --> 00:07:21.676
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, the thing you asked that, safety was the first feature that we implemented.

00:07:21.896 --> 00:07:25.936
<Shruti Ladani> We all the founder had small kids when we were developing the SmartSlydr.

00:07:26.336 --> 00:07:29.316
<Shruti Ladani> And my daughter, she was like at that time three years old.

00:07:29.496 --> 00:07:33.136
<Shruti Ladani> She places her hand in between the door while it was closing.

00:07:33.276 --> 00:07:35.856
<Shruti Ladani> Good thing safety feature is working since then.

00:07:36.156 --> 00:07:41.196
<Shruti Ladani> So basically it works similar to the car's power window safety feature.

00:07:41.356 --> 00:07:43.256
<Shruti Ladani> It's pinch safety mechanism.

00:07:43.536 --> 00:07:47.356
<Shruti Ladani> So whenever it detects the obstruction, door retracts back.

00:07:47.796 --> 00:07:53.676
<Shruti Ladani> Not only that, it will send the notification to the owner saying the obstruction.

00:07:54.016 --> 00:07:59.476
<Shruti Ladani> So owner can look at that and then they can clear the obstruction and close the door.

00:07:59.956 --> 00:08:06.716
<Michelle Fern> I have an interesting question for you because, there's different doors and types of doors all over the country.

00:08:06.736 --> 00:08:08.796
<Michelle Fern> Some people have double pain.

00:08:09.176 --> 00:08:12.416
<Michelle Fern> Some people have where I live in hurricane land.

00:08:12.476 --> 00:08:14.176
<Michelle Fern> I have impact glass.

00:08:15.176 --> 00:08:18.656
<Michelle Fern> Does it matter how heavy the sliding glass door is?

00:08:19.096 --> 00:08:19.436
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah.

00:08:19.736 --> 00:08:26.956
<Shruti Ladani> So I would like to say we have customers all around in the USA, right from Hawaii, Florida, Alaska.

00:08:26.976 --> 00:08:32.476
<Shruti Ladani> So it works in all the weather conditions and all different kinds of sliding glass doors and windows.

00:08:32.676 --> 00:08:38.436
<Shruti Ladani> So it doesn't matter how heavy your door is, it just how smooth your door is working.

00:08:38.836 --> 00:08:41.916
<Shruti Ladani> Because SmartSlydr needs to operate on the drag force.

00:08:42.276 --> 00:08:45.436
<Shruti Ladani> And it's compatible with most of the sliding door and window.

00:08:45.996 --> 00:08:47.656
<Shruti Ladani> It works on two-pan doors.

00:08:47.896 --> 00:08:52.716
<Shruti Ladani> And some of our creative users are even using on their four-panel door.

00:08:53.096 --> 00:09:00.216
<Michelle Fern> Do you have anyone that does not have a sliding glass door that might use it on their window to let their pet out?

00:09:00.496 --> 00:09:01.596
<Michelle Fern> I guess it would have to be a lot.

00:09:01.616 --> 00:09:04.516
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, that's been quite an interesting question.

00:09:04.576 --> 00:09:05.616
<Shruti Ladani> And we do have.

00:09:06.076 --> 00:09:09.436
<Shruti Ladani> We have customer using on their window.

00:09:09.736 --> 00:09:14.456
<Shruti Ladani> And not only they are not using for their dog, but they are using for their cats.

00:09:14.756 --> 00:09:19.116
<Shruti Ladani> So they have a ramp for the cat to go up to the sliding window.

00:09:19.556 --> 00:09:24.256
<Shruti Ladani> And they are using the SmartSlydr to give automatic opening and closing.

00:09:24.536 --> 00:09:36.696
<Michelle Fern> I was going to ask you also, yes, for cats, because cats in many places, people are fortunate enough to be able to have what we call a catio, like a patio for their cats.

00:09:37.336 --> 00:09:39.316
<Michelle Fern> And that's what I have for mine.

00:09:39.516 --> 00:09:43.056
<Michelle Fern> And they like to go in and out all the time.

00:09:43.156 --> 00:09:44.276
<Michelle Fern> But I have sliders.

00:09:44.576 --> 00:09:53.696
<Michelle Fern> But most people, if they, you know, say if you live in a condo and you have a catio, you wouldn't have, well, you might have a slider, but you might be more comfortable using a window.

00:09:53.716 --> 00:09:57.736
<Michelle Fern> So let's talk about this right before our break.

00:09:58.076 --> 00:10:02.176
<Michelle Fern> I have one more question, then we'll talk more about if it's hard to install and all of that.

00:10:02.676 --> 00:10:04.756
<Michelle Fern> What about if you have a screen door?

00:10:04.776 --> 00:10:07.096
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, so that's a good question.

00:10:07.116 --> 00:10:13.256
<Shruti Ladani> So if you have, when you are using the SmartSlydr, you need to keep your screen door open.

00:10:13.636 --> 00:10:17.316
<Shruti Ladani> But if you are still worried, you can use the flexible screen doors.

00:10:17.456 --> 00:10:21.196
<Shruti Ladani> So we are, many of our customers are using the flexible screen door.

00:10:21.516 --> 00:10:29.956
<Shruti Ladani> Or if you want to keep using your screen door, then there is a small pet inserts coming for the screens that you can use.

00:10:30.196 --> 00:10:38.476
<Michelle Fern> So if you have a screen, you'd have to either not have the screen open, maybe pushed all the way to the side of the slider that's not being opened.

00:10:38.696 --> 00:10:52.076
<Shruti Ladani> So if you have the screen, you can either push all the way open so that whenever your dog wants to go in and out, SmartSlydr can provide opening with your door and you can attach the flexible screens.

00:10:52.316 --> 00:10:59.256
<Shruti Ladani> If you might come through, like if you can type on the web, there's like flexible screens, so dog can go in and out through the screen.

00:10:59.496 --> 00:11:11.516
<Shruti Ladani> Another option is if you want to keep your screen door closed, then there are some flexible inserts for the pets that I've seen our customers are using.

00:11:11.836 --> 00:11:14.776
<Michelle Fern> All right, we're going to take a short break and we'll be right back.

00:11:17.496 --> 00:11:19.176
<Michelle Fern> Molly, here's your dinner.

<Announcer> That's www.cattreetray.com.

<Announcer> cattreetray.com.

00:12:24.085 --> 00:12:25.405
<Michelle Fern> Welcome back, everyone.

00:12:25.505 --> 00:12:27.465
<Michelle Fern> We're talking to Shruti.

00:12:27.465 --> 00:12:30.165
<Michelle Fern> She is the co-founder of SmartSlydr.

00:12:30.545 --> 00:12:39.425
<Michelle Fern> So we've talked a lot about SmartSlydr, what it's about, how it works with a PetPass, and the technology is just amazing.

00:12:39.725 --> 00:12:43.325
<Michelle Fern> And it can be used on windows, sliding glass doors.

00:12:43.845 --> 00:13:06.285
<Michelle Fern> Let's talk more about safety, because you have some great reviews, and I was a little bit amazed at how people are using it, but do people have concerns about what if, I don't know, somebody tries to rob me and opens the door somehow, or is it easier to open than a regular door?

00:13:06.305 --> 00:13:12.745
<Michelle Fern> So is there a chance that it could be opened by someone I don't want coming in my house?

00:13:13.165 --> 00:13:14.425
<Shruti Ladani> That's a good question.

00:13:14.585 --> 00:13:17.865
<Shruti Ladani> So SmartSlydr comes with self-locking mechanism.

00:13:18.205 --> 00:13:20.045
<Shruti Ladani> So that's give you peace of mind.

00:13:20.065 --> 00:13:25.585
<Shruti Ladani> So even though with your regular door, you need to remember to lock your door.

00:13:25.945 --> 00:13:31.925
<Shruti Ladani> With SmartSlydr, it has self-locking mechanism, so you don't have to remember to close or lock.

00:13:32.505 --> 00:13:38.205
<Shruti Ladani> And even though from your mobile app, you can always check the status of your door, whether it's open or closed.

00:13:38.565 --> 00:13:41.005
<Shruti Ladani> And another thing, you can create the routines.

00:13:41.445 --> 00:13:44.505
<Shruti Ladani> With the Google Home or Alexa, you can create the routines.

00:13:44.985 --> 00:13:48.605
<Shruti Ladani> If you want to close your door every night at like 10 p.m.

00:13:48.625 --> 00:13:54.925
<Shruti Ladani> so if it's open, you can create some routines to just ensure that it's closed every night.

00:13:55.145 --> 00:13:59.165
<Michelle Fern> So I was reading about people using it with Alexa.

00:13:59.405 --> 00:13:59.725
<Shruti Ladani> Yep.

00:14:00.145 --> 00:14:08.465
<Michelle Fern> And also people that were traveling across, you know, they're, I don't know, in Europe and they live in the US.

00:14:09.065 --> 00:14:24.085
<Michelle Fern> And they were able to control and open the door for their dogs because they knew that their, I think one of you said they knew their larger dog likes to do number ones and, you know, go take a leak in the yard in the middle of the night.

00:14:24.245 --> 00:14:25.645
<Michelle Fern> And they were able to do this.

00:14:26.085 --> 00:14:32.745
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, so with, as I said, SmartSlydr, there are many ways you can control your sliding glass door.

00:14:32.965 --> 00:14:39.805
<Shruti Ladani> So people, we have many customers that are using remotely while they are at work or they are on their trip.

00:14:40.045 --> 00:14:44.505
<Shruti Ladani> So they can use the mobile app to check the status and open the door for the dog.

00:14:44.785 --> 00:14:51.025
<Shruti Ladani> And also with Alexa, when they are at home, they can just shout out to the Alexa.

00:14:51.425 --> 00:14:54.105
<Shruti Ladani> It's like open the door and it will open for them.

00:14:54.405 --> 00:14:57.305
<Shruti Ladani> And another good thing is you can set the schedule.

00:14:57.665 --> 00:15:02.985
<Shruti Ladani> So if you know the time your dog wants to go in and out, you can set the schedule.

00:15:03.345 --> 00:15:09.285
<Shruti Ladani> And as well as with the PetPass, you can also enable and disable the PetPass feature.

00:15:09.525 --> 00:15:17.625
<Shruti Ladani> So let's say for the nighttime, you don't want to give automated opening for your dog, you can disable that feature during that time.

00:15:17.885 --> 00:15:25.185
<Shruti Ladani> So there are many ways you can control the door for your need and you can customize according to your need.

00:15:25.465 --> 00:15:31.065
<Michelle Fern> When you say customize, Shruti, is it just on the app, just make a change and that's it?

00:15:31.345 --> 00:15:34.285
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, so it's on the app and through the Alexa.

00:15:34.305 --> 00:15:40.125
<Shruti Ladani> So through the Alexa, you can create the routines as well as from the app, you can change the setting.

00:15:40.145 --> 00:15:49.925
<Shruti Ladani> Let's say when your dog grows out from the small size to medium size with the traditional flap door, you need to go and change the door here.

00:15:50.045 --> 00:15:56.465
<Shruti Ladani> It's as easy as just changing the setting for the opening width that you can do it from the mobile app.

00:15:56.865 --> 00:15:58.745
<Shruti Ladani> So this is just one example.

00:15:59.225 --> 00:16:02.405
<Shruti Ladani> And so all those kinds, it's just very easy.

00:16:02.605 --> 00:16:08.785
<Shruti Ladani> You can control from the mobile app, you can change some setting, create new routines that works for you.

00:16:09.265 --> 00:16:12.165
<Shruti Ladani> And that's how you can make your busy life easy.

00:16:12.705 --> 00:16:16.665
<Michelle Fern> Of course, as you're talking about this, I'm thinking more and more things.

00:16:17.245 --> 00:16:19.005
<Michelle Fern> This is a great idea.

00:16:19.025 --> 00:16:25.905
<Michelle Fern> And I know fur babes are four legged, but there's those two legged babes that we have for kids.

00:16:26.325 --> 00:16:29.165
<Michelle Fern> How many times do kids leave doors open, right?

00:16:29.385 --> 00:16:32.045
<Michelle Fern> And don't walk and don't check things.

00:16:32.605 --> 00:16:35.185
<Michelle Fern> And they're kids, I mean, it's expected.

00:16:35.465 --> 00:16:36.765
<Michelle Fern> It's what you do when you're a kid.

00:16:37.065 --> 00:16:39.105
<Michelle Fern> But how handy is this?

00:16:39.105 --> 00:16:42.985
<Michelle Fern> Just to make sure everything is locked up and everything's shut.

00:16:43.045 --> 00:16:45.085
<Michelle Fern> Now let's talk about SmartSlydr.

00:16:45.225 --> 00:16:46.645
<Michelle Fern> How is it to install?

00:16:46.865 --> 00:16:48.205
<Michelle Fern> And how is it to order?

00:16:48.445 --> 00:16:49.485
<Michelle Fern> What do you need to do?

00:16:49.985 --> 00:16:55.905
<Shruti Ladani> Yep, so if I address you the installation first, it's very easy DIY installation.

00:16:56.285 --> 00:17:06.985
<Shruti Ladani> From the very first units that we shipped, we got the review from 65 year old lady, saying that she found this installation of SmartSlydr very easy and straightforward.

00:17:07.025 --> 00:17:09.445
<Shruti Ladani> She did it by herself without any help.

00:17:09.625 --> 00:17:12.825
<Shruti Ladani> And at that time, we had even document style instruction.

00:17:13.185 --> 00:17:17.165
<Shruti Ladani> Now we have step-by-step video instruction available on our website.

00:17:17.265 --> 00:17:18.565
<Shruti Ladani> It's just three steps.

00:17:18.785 --> 00:17:20.985
<Shruti Ladani> First, you need to install the bracket.

00:17:21.085 --> 00:17:23.745
<Shruti Ladani> Second, you snap the SmartSlydr onto that.

00:17:23.965 --> 00:17:26.945
<Shruti Ladani> And third, you put the corner piece on your sliding door.

00:17:27.125 --> 00:17:27.785
<Shruti Ladani> That's it.

00:17:27.965 --> 00:17:34.485
<Shruti Ladani> And then our mobile app, it has this AI-self-AI calibration, so you don't have to do it anything manually.

00:17:34.665 --> 00:17:36.585
<Shruti Ladani> You set everything from the mobile app.

00:17:36.705 --> 00:17:40.045
<Shruti Ladani> So that's how easy it is to install and set up the SmartSlydr.

00:17:40.305 --> 00:17:42.665
<Shruti Ladani> I would encourage you to go to our website.

00:17:42.925 --> 00:17:45.685
<Shruti Ladani> That's lycheethings.com.

00:17:46.045 --> 00:17:50.225
<Shruti Ladani> Lyche as in fruit, things as the internet of things.

00:17:50.285 --> 00:17:53.545
<Shruti Ladani> So once again, it's lycheethings.com.

00:17:53.865 --> 00:17:59.485
<Shruti Ladani> It's lycheethings.com.

00:17:59.745 --> 00:18:04.245
<Shruti Ladani> Or you can go to the web and search for SmartSlydr, SmartPetTour.

00:18:04.805 --> 00:18:09.405
<Michelle Fern> We'll also have the information on our episode page for this show.

00:18:09.425 --> 00:18:12.305
<Michelle Fern> There'll be a link to SmartSlydr's website.

00:18:12.645 --> 00:18:15.845
<Shruti Ladani> And I would like to share a special code for the listener.

00:18:15.985 --> 00:18:20.865
<Shruti Ladani> So you can use the code that is PetLife, the show's name.

00:18:20.925 --> 00:18:27.145
<Shruti Ladani> You can use while you're checking out, you can use the code PetLife, that will give you the special discount.

00:18:27.405 --> 00:18:28.145
<Michelle Fern> PetLife?

00:18:28.485 --> 00:18:28.845
<Shruti Ladani> Yes.

00:18:28.965 --> 00:18:34.125
<Michelle Fern> So for everybody listening, with the special code PetLife, you'll have a special discount.

00:18:34.365 --> 00:18:36.425
<Michelle Fern> So head over to the website now.

00:18:36.845 --> 00:18:41.885
<Michelle Fern> Also Shruti, what I wanted to ask you about was, what about sizes?

00:18:41.965 --> 00:18:51.025
<Michelle Fern> So if someone's gonna order, and I have to say, I put mine up, it is pretty easy because I'm somewhat handy, but I'm also somewhat klutzy.

00:18:51.125 --> 00:18:54.745
<Michelle Fern> Like I drop things and cut myself and injure myself.

00:18:55.065 --> 00:18:58.185
<Michelle Fern> And I had a pretty easy time, so I was impressed.

00:18:58.445 --> 00:19:00.825
<Michelle Fern> I did look at the instructions and website.

00:19:00.905 --> 00:19:04.865
<Michelle Fern> I normally try to figure things out, but I did not do that this time.

00:19:05.145 --> 00:19:09.625
<Michelle Fern> But when you need order, it's specific to your slider.

00:19:09.925 --> 00:19:11.325
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, and it's very easy.

00:19:11.345 --> 00:19:16.385
<Shruti Ladani> When you go to the website, you need to just choose the three things like mounting.

00:19:16.465 --> 00:19:18.625
<Shruti Ladani> So for the doors, we recommend top mount.

00:19:18.965 --> 00:19:25.025
<Shruti Ladani> You need to select which side is your sliding panel, whether left or right, and what size.

00:19:25.285 --> 00:19:30.885
<Shruti Ladani> So based on small, medium and large, those are the standard sizes that could fit to most of the sliding door.

00:19:31.105 --> 00:19:35.445
<Shruti Ladani> So we have all the compatibility instruction available on our website.

00:19:35.485 --> 00:19:43.665
<Shruti Ladani> When you go there, there's pictures that will guide you how to measure them and how to select the SmartSlydr that will fit to your door.

00:19:44.065 --> 00:19:48.205
<Michelle Fern> Now, where do you see the future for SmartSlydr?

00:19:48.205 --> 00:19:55.425
<Michelle Fern> You have SmartSlydrs for sliding doors, you have them for windows, and for dogs and cats, which is fantastic.

00:19:55.725 --> 00:19:56.505
<Michelle Fern> What next?

00:19:56.805 --> 00:20:05.045
<Shruti Ladani> So we are, I'm excited to share that we are working on the new feature that is push buttons for the pets.

00:20:05.245 --> 00:20:10.465
<Shruti Ladani> So when, just imagine, your dog can open the door by pushing the button.

00:20:10.885 --> 00:20:13.445
<Shruti Ladani> So that's the next feature that we are working on.

00:20:13.725 --> 00:20:24.605
<Shruti Ladani> So SmartSlydr is, with the SmartSlydr, it's like Tesla, we keep innovating things, adding things to it, and it's just a matter of software update.

00:20:24.805 --> 00:20:33.665
<Shruti Ladani> So even though we got the SmartSlydr a year before, with just software update, they'll get access to the new features when we release it.

00:20:34.085 --> 00:20:36.105
<Shruti Ladani> And not just with the SmartSlydr.

00:20:36.285 --> 00:20:37.885
<Michelle Fern> So it's backward compatible.

00:20:38.485 --> 00:20:39.605
<Shruti Ladani> Yes, it is.

00:20:40.225 --> 00:20:49.225
<Shruti Ladani> For the next, we are also working on covering other different kinds of doors and windows, rather than only focusing on the sliding door.

00:20:49.245 --> 00:20:52.425
<Shruti Ladani> So that's our next thing.

00:20:52.805 --> 00:20:57.545
<Michelle Fern> Do you think that there may be, I don't know, my mind is just going here.

00:20:57.565 --> 00:21:08.545
<Michelle Fern> So, but do you think there may be at some point a home builder that is able to incorporate SmartSlydr technology in the entire house?

00:21:08.845 --> 00:21:10.465
<Shruti Ladani> I would definitely see that.

00:21:10.685 --> 00:21:16.165
<Shruti Ladani> Can you imagine like in 1940s, cars have introduced the power windows.

00:21:16.585 --> 00:21:21.145
<Shruti Ladani> Now, in this today, do you imagine rolling up the windows in your car?

00:21:21.625 --> 00:21:30.005
<Shruti Ladani> So it's the same, like SmartSlydr is just the beginning, and we definitely see after a few years, it's pretty common in the home.

00:21:30.485 --> 00:21:31.365
<Michelle Fern> I can't wait.

00:21:31.845 --> 00:21:38.585
<Michelle Fern> So where, again, people can go to smartslydr.com to find out more about SmartSlydr.

00:21:38.885 --> 00:21:44.745
<Shruti Ladani> So they can either type the SmartSlydr, or they can go to lycheethings.com.

00:21:44.965 --> 00:21:52.605
<Michelle Fern> Okay, lycheethings.com, and we'll have the information on the episode page for this show.

00:21:53.225 --> 00:21:58.785
<Michelle Fern> So Shruti, you just recently won an award at one of the bigger trade shows.

00:21:59.165 --> 00:22:00.265
<Michelle Fern> Can you tell us about it?

00:22:01.005 --> 00:22:04.025
<Shruti Ladani> So we launched our product at the CES.

00:22:04.245 --> 00:22:07.085
<Shruti Ladani> So CES is the Consumer Electronic Show.

00:22:08.265 --> 00:22:10.785
<Shruti Ladani> We launched it there in 2022.

00:22:10.885 --> 00:22:17.465
<Shruti Ladani> On the very first day, we got featured by the Wall Street Journal as the top innovations list for the smart home.

00:22:18.085 --> 00:22:26.385
<Shruti Ladani> Later this year in 2023, we got received innovations award by CES for the SmartSlydr.

00:22:26.405 --> 00:22:28.145
<Michelle Fern> Congratulations.

00:22:28.165 --> 00:22:29.405
<Michelle Fern> That is amazing.

00:22:29.425 --> 00:22:33.585
<Michelle Fern> Wall Street Journal and all the accolades from CES, that's amazing.

00:22:34.785 --> 00:22:44.165
<Michelle Fern> And I'm sure everyone listening to Best Bets is saying, what's even more amazing is I won't have to be getting up and up and down, up and down to let my dog out.

00:22:44.185 --> 00:22:51.565
<Michelle Fern> The last thing I want to ask you about is, is it easy enough to incorporate cameras?

00:22:51.585 --> 00:22:54.485
<Michelle Fern> These days, everybody has like Ring and other brands.

00:22:54.805 --> 00:22:55.185
<Shruti Ladani> Yes.

00:22:55.385 --> 00:23:01.565
<Michelle Fern> If you want to be even more secure, because I know SmartSlydr, it is what it is, but you can also put a camera.

00:23:01.845 --> 00:23:09.205
<Michelle Fern> So if you have any concerns about, or if you're nervous about your door opening, if you're not home.

00:23:09.485 --> 00:23:11.225
<Shruti Ladani> Yeah, that's a great question.

00:23:11.305 --> 00:23:13.945
<Shruti Ladani> And many of our customers are using it.

00:23:14.105 --> 00:23:15.285
<Shruti Ladani> So it's very easy.

00:23:15.345 --> 00:23:17.925
<Shruti Ladani> Even you can set the triggers from the camera.

00:23:18.225 --> 00:23:19.245
<Shruti Ladani> So it's very easy.

00:23:19.265 --> 00:23:25.965
<Shruti Ladani> Let's say if you're using Ring or Blink or whatever similar cameras, that you can set trigger with the Alexa or Google.

00:23:26.225 --> 00:23:31.665
<Shruti Ladani> So you can also set like when your camera detects the dog, it will open the door.

00:23:31.685 --> 00:23:36.445
<Shruti Ladani> So you can set those kinds of routines into the Alexa or Google.

00:23:36.825 --> 00:23:42.345
<Shruti Ladani> And those are just a few things that's the idea.

00:23:42.525 --> 00:23:47.545
<Shruti Ladani> SmartSlydr you can use wherever you think of opening and closing the door.

00:23:47.625 --> 00:23:54.645
<Shruti Ladani> So it works with various other smart sensors and our users are really creative enough.

00:23:54.985 --> 00:24:00.445
<Shruti Ladani> And sometimes the surprises is coming up with new ideas using the SmartSlydr.

00:24:00.785 --> 00:24:05.265
<Michelle Fern> I could see us all becoming like having James Bond type homes, you know.

00:24:07.405 --> 00:24:13.105
<Michelle Fern> My eyes will look inside the camera or whatever the plate at my home and open.

00:24:13.205 --> 00:24:16.365
<Michelle Fern> And it's, but I love it.

00:24:16.525 --> 00:24:24.845
<Michelle Fern> And my, it was much easier with my cats because they like to go in and out, you know, so thank goodness for SmartSlydr.

00:24:25.165 --> 00:24:29.925
<Michelle Fern> I want to thank you so much for coming on Best Bets and telling us about SmartSlydr.

00:24:30.225 --> 00:24:33.365
<Michelle Fern> And I can't wait to see where this product goes.

00:24:33.625 --> 00:24:38.145
<Michelle Fern> I mean, tap my, my dog, push a button and open a door.

00:24:38.485 --> 00:24:39.465
<Michelle Fern> How great is that?

00:24:39.525 --> 00:24:44.385
<Michelle Fern> You know, especially if they get locked in places, but thank you so much for coming on the show.

00:24:44.405 --> 00:24:45.665
<Shruti Ladani> Thank you, Michelle.

00:24:45.925 --> 00:24:47.545
<Shruti Ladani> Thank you for having me on the show.

00:24:48.185 --> 00:24:50.285
<Michelle Fern> I hope everybody enjoyed today's show.

00:24:50.645 --> 00:24:58.925
<Michelle Fern> Please check out the episode page for this show to get the link to go to the SmartSlydr website or just to a search.

00:24:58.945 --> 00:25:03.585
<Michelle Fern> It's Smart and Slider, but spelled with a Y, S-L-Y-D-R.

00:25:04.085 --> 00:25:10.825
<Michelle Fern> Well, first I want to thank Shruti, the co-founder of SmartSlydr for coming on the show and telling us all about it.

00:25:11.185 --> 00:25:17.805
<Michelle Fern> I want to thank my cat crew who helped me test the SmartSlydr by going in and out of the door.

00:25:18.105 --> 00:25:24.225
<Michelle Fern> I think they had fun with it opening and closing and they weren't scared at all, which I thought was a bonus.

00:25:24.405 --> 00:25:26.985
<Michelle Fern> My cat crew, Dennis, Charlotte and Molly.

00:25:27.525 --> 00:25:31.965
<Michelle Fern> And of course, a huge thank you to everyone listening to Best Bets for Pets.

00:25:32.005 --> 00:25:33.605
<Michelle Fern> I appreciate you so much.

00:25:33.665 --> 00:25:34.165
<Michelle Fern> Thank you.

00:25:34.185 --> 00:25:34.645
<Michelle Fern> Thank you.

00:25:34.905 --> 00:25:38.385
<Michelle Fern> And thanks for all the great ideas and suggestions you send my way.

00:25:38.645 --> 00:25:39.345
<Michelle Fern> You have any?

00:25:39.685 --> 00:25:42.645
<Michelle Fern> Send them to michelle@petliferadio.com.

00:25:43.185 --> 00:25:48.265
<Michelle Fern> And of course, this show wouldn't be the same without the magic of my producer, Mark Winter.

00:25:48.285 --> 00:25:49.925
<Michelle Fern> Thank you, Mark, for all you do.

00:25:50.465 --> 00:25:55.245
<Michelle Fern> And keep listening, because you never know what we're going to have next on Best Bets for Pets.
