Meet the Cat Rescuer Who Has Fostered More Than 3000 Cats!

This week Michelle Fern is joined by Amy Castro, long-time cat rescuer who has fostered more than 3000 cats personally, and President of Starlight Outreach and Rescue.  Starlight Outreach and Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster-based animal rescue in Friendswood, Texas and Alvin, Texas that started with a small group of volunteers who wanted to support the efforts of Houston-area shelters to provide a better quality of life for stray and abandoned animals, medical attention beyond the scope/capabilities of the facilities along with fostering and rescue services for animals with special needs.

Amy Castro is a professional speaker, author, trainer and consultant, and columnist for Pet Age Magazine. She's the founder and president of Starlight Outreach and Rescue (www.StarlightOutreachandRescue.org), a Houston, Texas area 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue whose mission is to rescue animals from the community, support shelters in providing medical treatment for at-risk pets, community outreach for pet owners in need, and educating pet parents to help keep pets in homes and off the streets.

Amy started the Starlight Pet Talk Podcast in 2023 as an extension of the rescue's education efforts to be able to reach more pet parents and help them solve their biggest problems so they can live their best lives with the pets they love.

Amy is also a proud USAF veteran and has personally fostered more than 3000 animals during her time in animal rescue.

Dr. Richter’s animal hospitals have received more than 30 local and national awards, including Best Veterinary Hospital, Best Veterinarian, Best Canine Therapy Facility, and Best Alternative Medicine Provider. Dr. Richter was named one of the top ten veterinarians in the United States for 2012, and America’s Favorite Veterinarian in 2015 by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF). Dr. Richter also received The Holistic Practitioner of the Year Award from the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association in 2019.
