Colleen Pelar can’t imagine living without a dog. A dog trainer since 1991, she is committed to helping families love sharing their lives with dogs. She gives presentations across the country and in Canada that teach dog aficionados how to share their knowledge of dogs with the general public in a way that is simple and easily applicable.

Over the years, Colleen has developed a particular interest in dog-bite prevention, particularly in relation to children. Because every interaction between a child and a dog can be improved by a knowledgeable adult, Colleen is committed to educating parents, children, and dog owners on kid-and-dog relationships. Colleen is the author of Living with Kids and Dogs . . . Without Losing Your Mind and Kids and Dogs: A Professional’s Guide to Helping Families.

Colleen is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She has earned the Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) titles.
